History - Continued from Page 1
North Face Investments L.L.C. is a family owned company created by Mr. David “Rudy” Dabdoub in 2003. The Dabdoub family has been in the Southwest business community since 1990 with an impressive repertoire of ventures that include convenience stores with fuel stations, professional offices and warehouse rentals, cutting-edge resorts and hotel developments, and a variety of other real estate projects. Mr. Dabdoub believes in going above and beyond the status-quo and delivering service, products, and developments that “solidify the family tradition of class, quality, and value”.
One of North Face Investment’s (NFI) initial endeavors was the Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites in Nogales, Arizona, U.S. A member of the world-renowned Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) hotel chain, The Holiday Inn Express-Nogales opened its doors in January 2001 and is conveniently located just minutes from the thriving U.S./Mexico border. Since its opening, the 99-room hotel has been recognized for several achievements including the “The Quality Excellence Award”, which is given to hotels that have maintained the highest standards in product quality, hotel operation, and customer satisfaction.
The Holiday Inn Express-Nogales has received countless compliments, comments, and displays of appreciation from its distinguished guests. This high level of guest satisfaction is a direct reflection of the successful management and operational style of NFI.
Based on the success of the Holiday Inn Express, the company decided to embark on its next venture, an ambicous prototype for IHG. When Mr. Dabdoub began exploring other markets to determine the location of the next hotel, he was quickly captivated by the beautiful Ocotillo area in Chandler, Arizona. This upscale desert oasis had been growing in both the manufacturing and residential areas, but with no lodging in-sight. Research and community involvement proved that residents and businesses were eager to have a local upscale hotel in their midst.
After evaluating several brands, NFI decided once again to develop an IHG hotel, the Holiday Inn at Ocotillo. This was an exciting time, not only was a beautiful hotel being developed, but a new management company was created, Cima Enterprises, for the ambitious young company. “Cima”, a Spanish word meaning “the top,” is a direct reflection of where Mr. Dabdoub plans to take NFI.
The Holiday Inn at Ocotillo was definitely a cutting-edge endeavor. This was no ordinary roadside Holiday Inn; this was a one-of-a-kind prototype that combined the quaintness of a Holiday Inn Express with the amenities comparable to a full-service resort. This 106-room gem opened in 2002 and features Old World class and unparalleled quality. With Tuscan décor, the hotel stands apart from the rest with European tile, hand-stained cabinetry, and beautiful traditional columns. The serene location provides the feeling of “getting away”, while you are merely minutes from exquisite shopping, large corporations, restaurants, golf, and other popular destinations. Currently, the Holiday Inn at Ocotillo is one of the elite hotels in the area and one of the highest ranked full-service Holiday Inns in the country. The hotel has received several accolades in service to the hotel’s prototype design, recently winning the 2003 City of Chandler’s “Excellence in Architecture” Award.
The ambitious company spent no time waiting for another opportunity. In 2005, NFI broke ground on not one, but two hotels simultaneously! This time venturing into Southern Arizona and the thriving town of Sierra Vista. NFI expanded their portfolio by developing two more IHG hotels; a Candlewood Suites and a Holiday Inn Express. The hotels are located adjacent to each other in a prime location perfect for local corporate business, community usage, and the nearby growing Fort Huachuca Army Base.
The 71-room Candlewood Suites specializes in extended stay travel and accommodations. The hotel features such amenities as fully equipped kitchens, large two-room suites, and an array of other offerings that will make this hotel feel like a home away from home.
The 77-room southwest-themed Holiday Inn Express is ideal for this growing community. With contemporary amenities such as an extended fitness center, flexible meeting space, and delectable complementary breakfast, this beautiful property can meet any need. The addition of these two special properties will not only enhance NFI’s current lodging portfolio, but they will set a standard of quality not yet seen in other local hotels. The two hotels will open late 2006.
Currently, NFI has several dynamic (and surprising) projects in development that will deliver style, excitement, and continued unmatched quality.
